Creating stop motion in Microsoft Photos
This Kapow Computing teacher video supports you in guiding pupils through the process of creating a simple stop motion animation using Microsoft Photos. It introduces the key steps, from starting a new video project and naming it, to importing a sequence of selected images. Teachers are shown how to place the images into the storyboard and adjust the default timing of each photo to create a smooth animation effect. In the example, the photo duration is reduced to 0.3 seconds to speed up the motion, helping pupils understand how image timing affects the final animation.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Computing scheme of work – video. The video continues with a demonstration of how to preview the animation and export the final video using the ‘Finish video’ and ‘Export’ options. This supports teachers in modelling the software with confidence and showing pupils how digital tools can be used creatively. The process builds pupils’ understanding of how still images can be sequenced to produce movement and supports skills in basic video editing and digital media handling.
