Fantastic beasts - final writing task
This French video introduces teachers to the final stage of the “Fantastic Beasts” unit, where pupils bring together all the grammatical elements they’ve learned to produce a longer, original text in French. The focus is on modelling from familiar sentence structures rather than encouraging guesswork or over-reliance on dictionaries. Pupils adapt existing descriptive sentences by changing nouns, adjectives, and data such as weight, length, and lifespan, while maintaining grammatical accuracy.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s French scheme – grammar. It shows how to guide pupils in producing a structured “fact file” for their own invented creature. Using the provided models, word banks, adjective charts, and previous lesson resources, the class can create imaginative yet linguistically accurate texts. The approach supports creativity while reinforcing key grammar, avoiding “franglais” errors, and building confidence as young French natural history writers.
