Adding Props to Photographs

This Computing video supports teachers in leading a creative lesson where the children learn how to download their photographs from Google Drive and enhance them by adding props or objects using Google Slides. Building on the previous lesson where images were saved online, this session enables the children to access their photos independently, select their favourites and begin simple photo editing by incorporating clipart-style elements such as trees or hats. This introduces them to the concept of image manipulation in a purposeful and age-appropriate way.

This video is part of our  Computing scheme of work – videos  and provides practical guidance for using tools such as the Explore function in Google Slides, helping teachers demonstrate a streamlined way to search and insert PNG images. With support for downloading, dragging images and resizing objects, the lesson develops the children’s digital editing skills while encouraging creativity and collaboration. It prepares the children for the next step, creating a photo collage from their edited images.
