Spotting noun patterns in French

This French video introduces teachers to a practical grammar activity where pupils use detective skills to identify patterns in French nouns. Through a phonics starter, children link sound and spelling before sorting nouns into Carroll diagrams by gender and number. With support from examples such as le nez, la tête, and les yeux, they explore how articles indicate masculine, feminine, singular, and plural, and begin to notice general spelling rules.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s French scheme of work – grammar. It models how to combine phonics with grammar awareness in an accessible way, using activities like monster descriptions to apply learning in context. Teachers are guided to help pupils notice and apply rules for nouns and adjectives while encouraging creativity and independence in sentence building.
