Print your tree drawing with texture and creativity

This Art and design scheme of work video shows pupils how to turn their tree drawings into expressive monoprints using tracing, ink and creative decoration. Monoprinting is a fun, one-off technique that encourages pupils to experiment with mark-making, pressure, and texture.

Pupils are guided through each step: from preparing their acetate and rolling out ink, to layering and tracing their original drawings. As they press over the acetate using a pencil, the pressure transfers ink to the background paper, creating a unique print full of character and texture.

The video also offers tips for refining the print — such as using a roller for added texture or skipping it for a cleaner look. Once dry, pupils can enhance their prints with festive elements like snowflakes, fairy lights, or snowy scenes, adding imagination and personal flair.
