Creating Zines about Ancient Egyptian art

This Art and design scheme of work video supports pupils as they make their own zine to share something they’ve learned about Ancient Egyptian art.

A zine is a creative way to communicate ideas. Pupils can choose what to focus on, such as their favourite fact, a design they enjoyed, or the colours and patterns used in Ancient Egyptian art. They start by selecting their paper. It could be painted, tea-stained or even leftover papyrus-style paper for extra effect. The video guides them step-by-step through folding and cutting the paper into the zine. Now it’s time to fill the zine with text, pictures, facts and drawings. Pupils think about who will read their zine and what they want to share.
