Pupil video: Making a moving picture

Using split pins and card to make levers and pivots

In this Design and technology video, the pupils are guided step by step through how to make a moving picture using card, images and split pins. They are shown how to add pictures to a page and use split pins to create levers and pivots that allow parts of their picture to move.

The pupils are shown how the lever moves from the pivot and how this creates movement in their picture. At each stage, the video supports them in following the process carefully, testing that their picture moves as intended and making small adjustments if needed.

The video is part of Kapow Primary’s Design and technology videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore and make their own products.
