Making prints using Lego

This Art and design scheme of work video shows how to create simple prints using Lego blocks, which is a fun and hands-on way for pupils to explore shape, pattern and colour.

Initially, the printing will start with a single brick. Apply paint carefully to the bumpy side and make the first print. Pupils can then see how combining bricks in different ways can create more complex shapes, patterns or even pictures. There are tips for keeping prints clean, like washing blocks between colours, and ideas for extending the activity, like using the blocks to make letters and initials or overlapping prints to create colourful layered effects.
