Pupil video: Evaluate and improve a chair

Learning about the process of evaluation and exploring some ways to improve a chair for a teddy bear.

In this Design and technology video, the pupils evaluate a chair made for a teddy bear by checking how stable, strong and comfortable it is. Depending on the particular faults, they are then guided through some methods for improving the chair.

The video shows the pupils how to evaluate a paper and card chair made for a teddy bear by comparing it to the design criteria of stable, strong, comfortable and correct size. For each success criteria, the video explains ways to evaluate the effectiveness and then some ways to improve the chair to perform better or to be more comfortable. The pupils are given choices of the elements they wish to improve and how to achieve them.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Design and technology videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore and make their own products.
