A Knowledge organiser that captures the essential knowledge and skills learnt throughout the unit French, Year 6, French sport and the Olympics.

 

This resource is designed to help pupils develop vocabulary and sentence structures related to sport and Olympic themes in French. It introduces key verbs such as jouer à (to play) and faire de (to do), sports nouns like le football and la natation, and countries where French is spoken, such as Senegal and Belgium. Pupils also practise expressing opinions using a variety of adjectives, such as amusant (fun) and fatigant (tiring), and are supported to use correct grammatical constructions when talking about travel and preferences. This organiser supports practical language application while broadening pupils’ cultural awareness through sport.

A Knowledge organiser that captures the essential knowledge and skills learnt throughout the unit French, Year 5, French-speaking world.

 

This resource is designed to support pupils in developing geographical vocabulary and sentence structures in French, with a focus on compass directions and international awareness. It introduces key terms such as le nord (north), l’est (east), and other directional language, along with visual aids representing symbols like stars, crescents, and flags. Pupils also explore basic sentence building around travel, preferences, and weather, using phrases like Je voudrais visiter… (I would like to visit…) and Il fait très chaud (It is very hot). The organiser reinforces grammar through comparative structures and gendered country names, and encourages meaningful language use through context-based examples about places like Switzerland and Morocco.

Through vocabulary lists, sentence structures, and illustrated examples, pupils are introduced to descriptive language, positional phrases, and cultural landmarks such as la Mezquita-Catedral and la Alhambra. The resource also includes a model dialogue and grammar support to encourage conversational practice, making it ideal for building language confidence in real-world contexts.
