Please note this document was recently updated to reflect changes to our long-term plan. See the Music: Long-term plan to find out more about these changes.
Aimed at the class or music teacher, this document shows the skills covered in each unit from the Music scheme of work for EYFS to Year 6 and provides knowledge statements for each unit.
It is invaluable if you wish to adapt our scheme of work to suit your school without adversely affecting progression.
The ✦ symbol shows the units that form our Condensed long-term plan. Almost all of the same skills that occur in our full curriculum are covered and those which are not are identified in this document.
To see an overview of progression throughout the school, see our Music: Progression of skills and knowledge.
A Knowledge Organiser that captures the essential knowledge and skills learnt throughout the unit Computing, Year 5, Online Safety.
This resource is designed to support pupils as they explore how to protect themselves when using technology and online platforms. It introduces key vocabulary such as bullying, judgement, memes, permission, app, and well-being, and highlights the impact of digital communication on mental and physical health. The unit also provides advice on recognising when apps request access to personal information and stresses the importance of speaking to a trusted adult or contacting services like Childline or the NSPCC if feeling unsafe online.
A vocabulary progression list detailing the terminology covered across the Kapow Primary Music curriculum. Words in bold show new vocabulary that has been introduced.
A Knowledge Organiser that captures the essential knowledge and skills learnt throughout the unit RSE & PSHE, Year 5, Safety and the Changing Body.
This resource is designed to support pupils as they learn about the physical and emotional changes that occur during puberty, and how to stay safe both online and in real life. It introduces accurate vocabulary relating to human anatomy and reproduction—including menstruation, fallopian tubes, scrotum, and genitals—as well as guidance on recognising and responding to unsafe situations. Pupils are reminded of the THINK framework (True, Helpful, Inspiring, Necessary, Kind) when communicating online, and are taught how to access support through trusted adults, Childline, and emergency services.
Planning for each year group to support staff and pupils to smoothly transition to our Computing scheme. All year groups have two catch up units (except for year two, which has one unit) to build a solid foundation of essential knowledge and skills before proceeding to our intended units and lessons for the year group.
Each of the catch-up units consists of selected lessons taken from a range of units in the previous year groups. This will support both staff and pupils in feeling confident and comfortable when approaching more advanced lessons.
You may find our Required hardware and software list for Computing particularly useful when planning, refer to this document for a comprehensive list of applications and software packages that are used across our Computing scheme of work.
A Knowledge organiser that captures the essential knowledge and skills learnt throughout the unit Design and Technology (D&T), Year 5, Digital World: Monitoring devices.
This Design and Technology resource is designed to support the pupils as they explore how digital systems are used in product design and development. It introduces key vocabulary such as sensor, microcontroller, input, output, and algorithm, helping the pupils understand how digital technologies enable automation and interactivity. The pupils will also learn about computer-aided design (CAD) and how digital tools assist in prototyping and testing.
This document is to be used by schools following the D&T: Long-term plan — condensed. It gives an overview of how skills and knowledge develop through our scheme of work for Design and technology.
Please note that the D&T: Long-term plan — condensed does not cover all the skills and knowledge covered in our full scheme of work. It does, however, ensure that children are given opportunities to work towards all of the attainment targets set out in the national curriculum.
If you are following our standard D&T: Long-term plan, then please see our Design and technology: Progression of skills and knowledge.
