Why are things special?

This Religion and worldviews video introduces teachers to the unit “Why Are Some Things Special?” and supports the teaching of four Development Matters statements. It equips teachers with the knowledge to guide young children in exploring why objects such as prayer beads, symbols, books and candles are considered special in different worldviews. The video explains how to use stories, discussion and reflection to help children understand that special things can have different meanings for different people, and highlights how this learning connects to wider cultural and religious practices.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Religion and worldviews resources – celebrations. It simplifies big ideas for younger pupils, ensuring teachers feel confident and prepared to help children explore belief, identity and meaning in the lesson and unit below.
