Understanding beliefs about God
This Religion and worldviews video supports teachers in helping pupils explore different beliefs about God from Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and Zoroastrian worldviews. It introduces key concepts such as incarnation, miracles, covenants and the battle between good and evil, and encourages children to reflect on the idea that people hold different understandings of God’s nature and role. Through stories, symbols and scripture, the unit develops children’s awareness of how God might be described, shown or experienced across a range of worldviews.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Religion and worldviews scheme – God. It prepares teachers to address common misconceptions and to foster respectful, inclusive classroom dialogue. The video also explains how to guide children in comparing views about God, linking to prior learning, and recognising that religious ideas can be interpreted in many ways. It ensures teachers are well equipped to support thoughtful, age-appropriate discussions using a wide range of beliefs, stories and personal perspectives.
