A guide to using Tinkercad for designing structures

In this Design and technology video, teachers are guided through the process of creating a Tinkercad account and how to share the code with a class so they can join a Tinkercad classroom.

The video explains how to use Tinkercad, a child-friendly online 3D design tool, to set up and run a classroom lesson. Teachers create a class using a teacher account, enable safe mode and generate login codes so pupils can join. Children then create a new 3D design using the workplane and basic shapes, learning how to place, move, resize, rotate and view objects from different angles. More advanced features include copying shapes, using holes to remove sections, adjusting height and adding notes to designs.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Design and technology videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore and make their own products.
