Using Google Sheets and Forms

This Computing video supports teachers in guiding the children to create and populate a Google Sheet, sort and filter data and create a quiz using Google Forms.

The video demonstrates how to set up a shared spreadsheet with column headings that match fields from the pupils’ Top Trump cards. It shows how to input data, sort by highest or lowest values using filters and locate specific entries using the ‘Create a filter’ function. The lesson highlights how sorting helps answer comparative questions, such as “Which alien is the strongest?” and how filtering helps find specific values, like all aliens with an appetite score of seven. It also introduces Google Forms as a tool for the children to create their own data-driven quizzes, preparing them for future lessons on representing data with charts and graphs.

This video is part of the Year 3 Data handling: Comparison cards databases unit, supporting the children to develop their data handling and digital skills.
