Playdough printing patterns

This archived Art and design scheme of work video introduces teachers to a simple printmaking activity where Key stage 2 pupils create patterns and textures using everyday objects pressed into Playdough. It encourages experimentation and creativity while developing control and observation of shape. The video demonstrates each step, from rolling and shaping the Playdough into a block, experimenting with object impressions, and inking the surface, to transferring prints onto paper and experimenting with different colours, producing a variety of original designs.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s original LKS2 Art and design resources. It supports teachers in guiding pupils to explore printing in an accessible and versatile way, linking creativity with familiar materials while developing problem-solving skills, patience, and imagination.
