Exploring networks
This Computing scheme of work video helps pupils understand how their school network works. It introduces key components—server, router, wireless access point, and network switch—and explains how these devices connect and communicate.
Using relatable examples like printing a file, the video shows how data moves through the network: from a laptop to a wireless access point, through the switch, and to the printer. It also highlights how servers store shared files, routers connect to the internet, and switches direct network traffic.
This video is part of the Year 3 Computing systems and networks 1: Networks unit. By the end of the lesson, pupils will understand how devices in school connect and share information.
