What lies beneath our feet and how does it shape our planet?
In this Geography video, teachers are supported in introducing the internal structure of the Earth, including its four key layers and the foundational concept of tectonic plates. Designed to address common misconceptions, such as the idea that only soil lies below, the video builds the children’s understanding ahead of lessons on mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes.
Teachers are guided in explaining each layer clearly and reinforcing key terminology. They are also supported in introducing the idea of plate boundaries, where plates meet and move, laying the groundwork for future learning about Earth’s surface processes.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Earth systems videos. Designed to build teacher confidence, this video supports clear, layered explanation of abstract geographical concepts.
