French world tour activity
This French video introduces teachers to a lively role-play lesson where pupils take a whistle-stop tour of the French-speaking world. The activity begins with setting the classroom as an “airline,” complete with passports for each child, and uses role play to capture imagination and build enthusiasm. Pupils take turns acting as travellers and guides, asking and answering questions in French to collect facts about different French-speaking countries.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s French scheme of work – vocabulary. It supports speaking, listening, and writing through question prompts such as “What is the name of the country?”, “What is the climate like?” and “What is there to visit?” Children record their findings in their passports, share them with partners, and colour in world maps as their knowledge expands. The lesson culminates in pupils choosing which country they would most like to visit and writing short justifications, fostering curiosity, intercultural understanding, and confidence in using French vocabulary.
