Analysing and presenting fieldwork

This Geography scheme of work video supports teachers in guiding pupils through the final stages of their fieldwork inquiry: analysing their data and presenting their findings to a real or intended audience. The video spans the final two lessons of the unit and focuses on helping pupils make sense of the evidence they’ve collected.

Pupils will record their analysis using the activity sheet provided, identifying patterns, key insights and possible improvements to the area under investigation. They’ll also map the locations where data was collected using a digital tool, and compile supporting visuals such as photographs, annotated sketches, survey results, and route maps. Teachers are guided in helping pupils decide how best to present their findings—for example, through a letter, video, slideshow or formal report. The presentation should include their inquiry question, data and methods used, route taken, risk considerations, analysis of findings, suggested improvements and a self-evaluation.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Geography – Fieldwork Teacher video collection and brings the fieldwork cycle to a meaningful conclusion by supporting authentic pupil voice and critical thinking.
