Passing for possession and control

This PE scheme of work video introduces teachers to key passing techniques to help Key stage 2 pupils maintain possession and improve teamwork during football lessons. It focuses on developing pupils’ ability to vary the weight of their passes, using both the inside and outside of the foot to deliver accurate short and long balls. Teachers are guided through key steps such as foot placement, striking position, and follow-through, with progressive opportunities for pupils to build confidence, apply control, and experiment with different passing styles.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s PE Football resources. It simplifies the process, supporting teachers with activities like “Rondo,” which focuses on accurate passing under pressure, and “Goals Galore,” a 3 v 3 continuous game where pupils work together to score by passing through multiple goals. These structured, game-based activities help pupils apply passing techniques in realistic situations while developing communication and tactical awareness.
