Introducing French verbs

This French scheme of work video introduces teachers to the skills needed to help Key stage 2 pupils recognise, group and use French verbs. It explores how to introduce the three families of infinitive verbs (-er, -ir and -re) and guides pupils in identifying patterns through dictionary work. The video demonstrates each step, from spotting verbs in pictures and checking their form, to sorting them into groups and using them in simple expressions.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Language teacher video resources.. It simplifies the process, ensuring teachers feel confident and prepared to support the pupils in understanding verb families, practising dictionary skills, and beginning to build sentences that describe what they like to do, ready to extend in future lessons.
