Adjectives in action

This French video introduces teachers to a dynamic, movement-based approach for teaching adjectival agreement. Pupils explore how adjectives change according to the gender and number of the nouns they describe, starting with a sorting task to group adjectives into “families” and spot patterns in endings. Through physical activities such as “adjective islands” or circle swap games, children practise identifying masculine, feminine, singular, and plural forms in a memorable, active way.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s French scheme – grammar. It demonstrates how to reinforce grammar knowledge through engaging, physical tasks. The lesson incorporates sentence-jumbling, human sentence building, and a runner–scribe dictation challenge to apply adjective agreement in context. By noticing form changes, using them in sentences, and reflecting on accuracy, pupils build confidence and precision in their French writing.
