Creating posters using Canva

This Computing video supports teachers in leading a lesson where pupils use the online graphic design platform Canva to create a digital poster. The focus is on developing pupils’ digital publishing skills, including how to combine text, images and design features to communicate an idea effectively. Children are encouraged to think critically about their design choices, considering both purpose and audience, while exploring Canva’s intuitive interface and ready-made templates.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Computing videos. It offers clear guidance on how to sign up to Canva, model its key features, and support children to work independently or collaboratively on a shared class account. By using an accessible digital tool in a purposeful and creative context, the lesson builds confidence in layout, formatting and visual communication.
