Creating a photo story collage

This Computing video supports teachers in delivering a celebratory final lesson where the children create a photo collage using Google Slides. The children will download and insert multiple images, arrange and resize them, add text boxes for captions and sequencing and use shapes and colour to decorate their collages. The lesson offers a creative and structured way for the children to tell a story through pictures while reinforcing key digital skills.

This video is part of the Year 1 Digital imagery unit and guides teachers through the practical steps of downloading, dragging, editing and formatting images in Google Slides. It offers tips on using text and shape tools effectively, subtly strengthens the children’s computational thinking and encourages them to apply their skills to other curriculum areas such as English or Science. The lesson provides a joyful conclusion to the topic, showcasing creativity and storytelling through digital technology.
