An overview of the Remembrance collection
This video introduces teachers to Kapow Primary’s Whole school Remembrance collection, providing them with the knowledge and confidence to teach Remembrance in an age-appropriate and meaningful way across all year groups. It explains how the lessons progressively build children’s understanding of who we remember and why, helping them explore the contributions and experiences of people from different backgrounds.
The video outlines the key themes at each stage, from EYFS children learning what it means to remember and say thank you, to upper Key Stage 2 pupils curating their own Remembrance exhibitions and reflecting on the role of volunteers past and present. It highlights how the lessons support children through stories, photographs, sources and creative activities, encouraging them to think critically, ask questions and take part in respectful remembrance.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Whole school Remembrance collection and ensures teachers feel prepared to guide children in learning about remembrance with sensitivity and purpose, supporting thoughtful reflection on the past and hope for a more peaceful future.
