Exploring texture

In this Art and design scheme of work video, pupils are introduced to the idea of texture and how artists use texture to make their work more interesting.

They learn that in art, texture means how something feels or looks like it feels. Artists can show texture in their work, even when it’s flat and can’t be touched by using lines, colours and materials to give the effect of different surfaces. Pupils are invited to explore textures around them. They begin thinking about how to describe these textures themselves.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Year 2 Understanding tone and texture unit.
