Images of volcanoes
In this Geography video, teachers are supported in using striking video footage of volcanoes to explore both volcanic activity and its impact on people and landscapes. The video features active eruptions at Fagradalsfjall, Iceland; Cumbre Vieja, Canary Islands; Mount Sinabung, Indonesia; and Mount Etna, Italy, showing the scale and power of volcanic processes.
Teachers can use the footage to discuss the damage and devastation left behind, including examples from Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park and Pahoa, Hawaii, helping the children understand how lava flows, ash, and pyroclastic material affect communities and environments. Dramatic visuals support learning about volcanic hazards and their wider geographical significance.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Earth systems videos and helps the children explore volcanic activity as part of understanding the Earth’s dynamic processes.
