How life on Earth began

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Religion and worldviews scheme of work. It introduces children to a scientific perspective on how the universe and life began, based on the Big Bang theory and evolution. The video uses simple, age-appropriate language to explain how the universe expanded, how stars and planets formed, and how life developed gradually on Earth. It highlights that humans, animals and plants are all connected as part of this ongoing story of life, encouraging awe, curiosity and wonder.

The video is designed to support pupils in understanding a non-religious worldview (such as Humanism), helping them appreciate different ways people understand where life comes from, while fostering respect for diverse beliefs.

The video is designed to be shown to pupils as part of Religion and worldviews, Mixed-age, Y1/2 (A): How did the world begin? Lesson 5: How do some Humanists believe the world began?
