Looping sounds in scratch
This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Computing scheme of work. It is designed for pupils and explores how to select and loop sounds within a Scratch project. Pupils are guided through the process of using the ‘Sounds’ tab to access a range of audio options, including choosing from the Scratch library, recording a sound, uploading their own, or selecting a surprise sound. The video shows how to browse categories like animals, voice, and effects to find an appropriate sound. Once selected, the sound appears in the sound section ready for use.
The video continues by showing how to return to the code area and build a short script using event, sound, and control blocks. Pupils learn how to trigger a sound with the green flag and loop it using the ‘repeat’ control block. The example demonstrates how to loop a sound ten times, helping pupils understand how loops can be used to repeat instructions and enhance interactivity in their Scratch projects.
The video is designed to be shown to pupils as part of Computing, Upper key stage 2, Year 5, Programming 1: Music, *New* Programming 1: Music, Lesson 2: Scratch soundtracks
