Using layers in Sketchpad

This Design and technology scheme of work video shows the children how to use layers in Sketchpad to place shapes and text over one another in a digital design. It shows how to add new shapes to an existing design and demonstrates how to arrange multiple shape and text layers in a chosen order to achieve the desired appearance. The children are encouraged to experiment with layout by moving, reordering and overlapping different elements.

The video illustrates each design step clearly so the children feel confident and well prepared to use layers effectively in the lesson and unit below.
