Basic functions in Sketchpad

This Design and technology scheme of work video shows the children how to use basic functions in Sketchpad to create simple digital designs. It introduces the shape tool and shows how to select a background layer before adding and manipulating shapes. The children learn how to change the position of a shape, resize it by dragging the corner, rotate it, change its colour and use the undo tool to make adjustments. They are encouraged to explore these functions before moving on to more advanced tools in later videos.

The video illustrates each digital step clearly so the children feel confident and well prepared to begin their digital design work in the lesson and unit below.
