What is Shrove Tuesday?

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Religion and worldviews scheme of work. In this video, Sam explains the meaning of Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day. Children will learn how this day helps many Christians prepare for Lent, a special time leading up to Easter. The video explores how people used to give up certain foods like eggs, butter and sugar, and made pancakes to use them up. It also explains how some Christians use this day to say sorry for wrong choices and try to do better. Children are encouraged to reflect on traditions, forgiveness and self-improvement.

The video is designed to be shown to pupils as part of Religion and worldviews, Reception, Reception Units, Time to celebrate, Lesson 4: What is Shrove Tuesday?
