Reusing and remixing code

This Computing scheme of work video introduces the children to the idea of reusing and remixing existing code to create new outcomes. It shows how the children can build on previous projects to save time, develop their ideas and compose more complex digital soundtracks.

The video revisits a simple looped drum pattern and demonstrates how to remix it by changing sounds, adjusting notes and adding a melody. It highlights how duplicating and tweaking existing code allows the children to experiment creatively while keeping the rhythm in sync.

This video supports teachers in showing the children how remixing code encourages problem-solving, creativity and efficient coding practices in Computing.
