Learning about remixing code

This Computing scheme of work video introduces pupils to the idea of reusing and remixing existing code to create new outcomes. It shows how pupils can build on previous projects to save time, develop their ideas and compose more complex digital soundtracks.

The video revisits a simple looped drum pattern and demonstrates how to remix it by changing sounds, adjusting notes and adding a melody. It highlights how duplicating and tweaking existing code allows pupils to experiment creatively while keeping the rhythm in sync.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Computing Music unit. It supports teachers in showing pupils how remixing code encourages problem-solving, creativity and efficient coding practices.
