Build a simple mechanical car: prototype 1
In this pupil video, the presenter demonstrates how to build a simple mechanical car using basic materials. They start by cutting a straw and dowel to create the car’s structure and wheels. The wheels are secured to the dowel with tubing, and the dowel is then inserted into the straw. The pupils are shown how to construct a V-shaped frame using lolly sticks, which is attached to the wheel axles. Finally, they test the car’s performance on a ramp to see how far it can travel.
This pupil video is part of the Kapow Design and technology scheme of work for KS2, year 4.
