How plants make new life

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Science scheme of work. It is designed for pupils and explores how plants reproduce as part of their life cycle. The video explains the role of flowers, focusing on their male and female parts and how pollinators like bees help transfer pollen from one flower to another while searching for nectar.

Once pollination occurs, pupils learn how fruits begin to grow, each containing seeds ready for dispersal. The video highlights different methods of seed dispersal, by animals, wind, or water, and invites pupils to observe a variety of fruits and their structures. It helps them understand how fruit design supports reproduction and gives seeds the best chance to grow into new plants.

The video is designed to be shown to pupils as part of Science, key stage 2, Year 3, Making connections: Does hand span affect grip strength?, Lesson 2: Investigating grip strength – Gathering data
