Discovering the pros and cons of fast fashion

In this Geography video, the children are introduced to the concept of fast fashion, the rapid production of low-cost clothing, and its impact on people and the planet. The video explores how clothes are made, the hidden environmental costs and the social issues tied to global garment production.

The children are encouraged to think critically about where their clothes come from, asking questions such as: Who made this? What happens to it when I throw it away? The video introduces ideas around ethical shopping, sustainability and reusing or repairing clothes rather than buying new ones. It also supports discussion about fairness, responsibility and climate-conscious choices, as well as projects involving upcycling, sustainable design and social action.

This video is part of the Geography Sustainability collection resources helping pupils become more informed and thoughtful citizens.
