Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support:
Could use the Knowledge organiser: Science – Everyday materials to help them answer the Recap and recall questions; should use the word bank on slide 4 of the Presentation: Is the Gingerbread Man waterproof? to help them describe their observations; should use a one-minute sand timer instead of a stopwatch; could circle the provided adverbs to help order the statements on the Activity: Ordering the method: support version; could use the Activity: Gingerbread man results table: support version to record their results by underlining or circling the correct describing words.
Pupils working at greater depth:
Should devise a plan for how to get the Gingerbread Man safely across the river, considering what materials they would use and drawing and labelling their design in their books (e.g. they could design a waterproof suit or a boat); could calculate how long it would take the gingerbread man to swim over the river if it was nine meters wide and it took one minute for the Gingerbread Man to swim one metre; could use a device with internet access to find a gingerbread recipe and write it out as a method.
