Lesson plan
Explain to the children that they will play a game to practise the five senses: taste, sight, hearing, touch and smell. Choose a simple action for each sense, for example:
- Taste: lick lips or rub tummy.
- Sight: pretend to hold binoculars to eyes.
- Hearing: cup hands behind ears.
- Touch: wiggle fingers.
- Smell: pinch your nose closed as if smelling something bad.
Call out instructions using the senses, such as 'Simon says show me taste,' and wait for the children to do the correct action.
Give some instructions without saying 'Simon says' to check if the children are paying attention.
Recap each sense and ask the children which body part it is used for (eyes for sight, ears for hearing, tongue for taste, nose for smell and skin for touch).
