ELG: Comprehension

Children at the expected level of development will:

  • Use and understand recently introduced vocabulary during discussions about stories, non-fiction, rhymes and poems and during role-play.

Children at the expected level of development will:

  • Know some similarities and differences between different religious and cultural communities in this country, drawing on their experiences and what has been read in class.

Activity

Support and challenge

  • Provide the Activity: Building good choices picture cards for the children to cut and stick onto the Activity: Building good choices or choose a picture to draw.
  • Provide some suggestions when passing around the beanbag or soft toy.
  • Challenge the children to explain their choice.
  • Challenge the children to explain what they think was the most important lesson from the story and why.
  • Challenge the children to write a word or phrase on their brick.
