Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Should use the Activity: Story chain: support version without text alongside the Presentation: Daniel and the lions, with adult or peer modelling to retell the story verbally as they order the images, supporting recall and sequencing of main events; could be given two stickers to identify only two clues that show Daniel is special instead of three.

Pupils working at greater depth

Should identify Daniel praying despite it being against the rules as a key clue that shows he is special; should make links between the story of Guru Nanak and the cobra and Daniel and the lions and the stories learnt about earlier in the unit, using vocabulary such as using vocabulary such as miracle and special to explain how these events show a connection to God; could explain why they think Daniel was protected in the den.
