Could select the words that describe God in the story and cut and stick these in the middle of the boat outline on the Activity: Calming the storm; could be given an audio recording of the teacher reading the Presentation: Jesus calms the storm to support recall before completing the drawing or writing task, ensuring they can describe God’s qualities confidently.
Pupils working at greater depth
Should explain how the story might influence a Christian’s belief about God as protector or helper, linking this to what the miracle shows about God’s power and care; should add the most important words that describe God’s qualities in the centre of the boat and words that do not describe God’s qualities outside of the boat; could discuss how the story might influence a Christian’s belief about God as protector or helper, comparing this story with other miracles they have heard about in the unit.
