Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Should use the Activity: Symbols sheet as a prompt while listening to the Presentation: Scripture, matching the pre-drawn symbols to the quote that best shows how some people believe God cares for or protects people; could listen again to one or more quotes from the Presentation: Scripture before choosing which idea to draw, helping them recall and connect each quote to a symbol.

Pupils working at greater depth

Should explain why each quote shows that some people believe God protects or cares for people, referring to key words such as shepherd, shield and helper; should discuss similarities and differences between the ways God is described in the Tenak quotes and the names of God studied in Lesson 1: How do the 99 names of God show what some Muslims believe God does?, identifying which ideas about God’s roles appear in both; could draw a symbol to represent each of the quotes.
