Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support
Should use either thicker thread or a single type of thread to make threading and stitching easier and reduce tangling; could use shorter threads lengths to help avoid tangling; could have the thread tied to the needle with a small knot to help them manage control and avoid re-threading.
Pupils working at greater depth
Should choose suitable threads of different textures for specific parts of their design and explain how the texture links to the part of the image (for example, smooth ribbon for sky or rough string for ground); should experiment with varying stitch size to highlight key details and explain how this creates different effects in their design.
