Recap and recall
Thinking back to the previous lesson (Lesson 3: Working with wire), ask children to explain why wire is a good material for sculpting. Recap the sculpture materials pupils have learned about in the unit so far: ceramics, soap and wire.

Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support
Could select from pre-cut letters to assemble their word; consider pairing children to create their shadow sculptures so that the task of creating letters is shared; could work as a group and take on a specific role, e.g. designer, photographer.
Pupils working at greater depth
Should be encouraged to try a variety of different ways to display their sculpture, exploring how the position of the sculpture can best reflect the message of their chosen word.
