This resource supports pupils as they explore musical motifs through the theme of Roman mosaics. It introduces key vocabulary and concepts such as motif, ostinato, riff, rhythm and backing track, as well as ways of writing music including graphic score, letter notation and rhythmic notation. Pupils also learn about transposition and the use of sharp and flat notes. By engaging with these elements, pupils develop their understanding of musical patterns, notation and composition.
