Essential art resources for the Kapow Primary Art and design scheme
Discover the tools and materials needed to deliver an inspiring Art and design curriculum. This comprehensive equipment list provides a clear and organised overview of the necessary art materials for each year group across EYFS (Reception), KS1 and KS2. It ensures that teachers are well-equipped to support creativity, artistic skill development and a love for art in their pupils.
How is the equipment list organised?
The list includes specialised art supplies (e.g. charcoal, pastels, clay) and everyday classroom or recycled materials (e.g. shoeboxes, magazines, string). Links to lesson plans and unit pages on Kapow Primary’s website are provided throughout.
The Art and design equipment list is organised by year group and then further broken down into the following four core areas, repeated within each year group:
- Drawing, e.g. sketching pencils, charcoal, chalk, pastels, fine liner and marker pens, drawing ink, mirrors and a range of paper types.
- Painting and mixed media, e.g. ready-mix, watercolour and acrylic paints, brushes, sponges, collage items and printing items.
- Sculpture and 3D, e.g. air-dry, modelling or plasticine clay, clay tools, cardboard, junk modelling materials, PVA glue, sticky tape, string, wool and pipe cleaners.
- Craft and design, e.g. craft paper, colourful card, tissue paper, ribbons, wool, fabric scraps, beads, masking tape and split pins.
