Toby travels to Sri Lanka

This Religion and worldviews video follows travel vlogger Toby on his journey to the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, Sri Lanka – one of the most sacred places in Buddhism.

Toby shares his experience visiting this UNESCO World Heritage Site, believed to house one of the Buddha’s teeth, and reflects on what makes the site so special to many people around the world. As he explores the temple, surrounded by music, worshippers and monks, he begins to notice the deep sense of reverence and meaning it holds for Buddhist visitors.

The video invites pupils to think about why people visit sacred places – whether for worship, reflection, learning or simply to experience something new. Toby also shares his own perspective as someone outside the Buddhist tradition, considering what he learned and how the visit made him feel.
