Mindful zentangle drawing

This archived Art and design scheme of work video introduces teachers to the practice of Zentangle, an abstract drawing activity using repeated patterns that supports mindfulness and creativity. It encourages Key stage 2 pupils to notice patterns in the world around them and develop their own imaginative designs through focused drawing. The video demonstrates each stage, from creating a design matrix of squares and filling them with repeated motifs to refining the work in pen, producing calming and visually striking results.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s original KS2 Art and design resources. It supports teachers in helping pupils to relax, focus, and refresh themselves through art, combining creativity with mindfulness to create absorbing and rewarding patterned drawings.
