Introducing the Year 2 online safety unit

This Computing scheme of work video supports teachers in delivering the Year 2 Online safety unit, helping pupils build confidence and caution when navigating the digital world.

Across five lessons, the children explore online safety through discussion, practical tasks and reflection. They learn what online information is, what is safe to share and how to protect themselves using strong passwords. The unit also covers recognising emotional impacts, knowing who to ask for help and understanding rights around sharing content. Teachers are guided on addressing misconceptions, reinforcing age restrictions and introducing trusted organisations and adults. This ensures pupils learn to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly.
